The Lord Bless You

Today’s Encouragement is Numbers 6:24-26 NLT ‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. [25] May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. [26] May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’

May the Lord Bless you –

This blessing is probably familiar to many of you, it is common for pastors to pray this prayer of blessing for the church, usually at the end of a service.  But please don’t allow familiarity to make it ordinary!

Rich in meaning, given to us by God, just like Jesus taught His disciples the Lord’s Prayer.

Hear it again –

The LORD bless you (God blesses us, we don’t cause or deserve this)

And protect you. (God’s protection is complete, perfect, for the body, mind, & Spirit)

May the LORD smile on you (Can we even imagine this… the smile, looking at you and me, of our Loving Heavenly Father!)

And be gracious to you. (God’s Grace extended in nail-scarred hands, to us, the undeserving)

May the LORD show you his favor (Imagine enjoying the Favor of God!)

And give you his peace (and finally, God gives us His peace! Peace beyond our human understanding!)

As He closes this prayer of blessing (v27), intended for All His people (including you and me), God concludes with “I myself will bless them.”

My friends, we cannot, we must not, deny that these blessings, are ours.  Already, provided to us by God’s instruction… because… He loves us.

Father, even though we may not understand, we may not feel or sense this, help us to accept, by faith, Your immeasurable blessings.  And to be deeply grateful for Your Grace.

The Blessing (another one not to miss!)
