Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 115:1 NLT Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Not to us –
Have you ever done something really good? Something you wanted, expected, hoped would cause others to honor you, praise you, “Wow! That’s so amazing! You’re so talented, gifted, skilled, wise, beautiful… “. Ever secretly desired that?
Some people do get such praise from others. Like, famous musicians, sports stars, others highly skilled or talented or well-known. But almost universally these famous stars admit, it’s never enough! The fame and fortune do not satisfy! It’s nice for a while, of course… but my friends, it is never enough.
This verse reminds us that seeking our own recognition and praise is very unwise… only God deserves praise and honor from people. We never deserve it, regardless of our accomplishments. Our good deeds, our righteousness is like filthy rags (Is 64:6) when compared to Gods Glory!
Father, help us to recognize how unworthy we are, and how truly Worthy You are. Worthy of all the glory; of all our honor and praise. You alone.
