Today’s Encouragement is Ephesians 2:8 ESV “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”
By Grace – through Faith
At times we get caught up in… well lots of things!
It’s good to refocus, and often, upon the essential Truth from God’s Word.
This passage is such Essential Truth:
By Grace –
Grace is God’s undeserved favor. We don’t and cannot deserve or earn His favor, He gives it to all who believe in Jesus.
You have been saved – already! Saved from what we Do deserve! Because we are sinful people we deserve death and separation from God’s Love. But His grace says “this one is mine”.
Through Faith – our response to God’s love, the offer of His Grace and Salvation, is ‘yes or no’. ‘Yes. we need it!’ ‘Yes, we choose to accept His gracious gift of life and eternal salvation!’ Or ‘No. No thanks I’m doing fine on my own, I don’t need anyone telling me how to live my life’. ‘My life; my choice…’
Not your own doing – we cannot save ourselves; we can’t wish or think or even believe ourselves right with God… we can only accept His gift and then we are saved. Our part is merely acceptance!
The gift of God – freely given to all who believe.
Only a loving perfectly kind and generous God, could come up with such a plan! “Believe and you will be saved.” By Grace, through Faith!
Father, help us to remember the essential truths of Your Word, Your plan, Your ways. Keep our feet on the solid ground of Your Truth. We pray in Jesus’ Name.
