Today’s Encouragement is Ephesians 1:6-8 NLT “So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. [7] He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. [8] He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.”
He has –
Notice the clear and final perspective. He has. It is done. It is past tense. Not someday out there, but both then (as Jesus died for us) and now (as we accept Him) it is already done! Jesus declared it so. (John 19:30)
All of this is ALREADY done:
He has poured out His grace,
He purchased our freedom,
He forgave our sins,
He showered His kindness on us,
And He showered wisdom and understanding on us.
He has – already adopted us (v 5).
Too often we ask, even beg God for… what He has already given!
Is it possible my friends, that instead of asking for the forgiveness of our sins of yesterday, we need to thank Him for the forgiveness of sin (perfect, complete, and eternal) which He has ALREADY given.
We certainly need to recognize our sin, to refrain, resist, and restrain our flesh nature… but every single one of us sins… and will again… because we are fallen creatures… saved only by His grace and not by our own efforts at resisting sin or doing good.
Already, my friends, He has forgiven and forgotten our sin.
Father, we thank You for what You have ALREADY done for us… too many blessings to name, but especially Forgiveness, adoption into Your family. We are already forgiven and free.
