Today’s Encouragement is Luke 11:9 NLT [Jesus said] “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
Keep on asking-
This passage follows Jesus teaching the Lord’s Prayer, then an amazing parable Jesus taught to illustrate how we are to pray in v5-8.
In our extremely polarized society, between the hyper-sensitive, politically correct and the ‘say-whatever-I-want’ perspectives… it often seems rude to us to be persistent in asking for anything. We may think, “Well, I asked once nicely, but…” and not ask again.
Now this is not my idea, Jesus said this – in essence – Be very persistent in prayer!
My friends we too often pray once for something and then forget it. We don’t have much consistency or persistency.
Jesus here encourages us to ‘keep on’ asking, seeking, and knocking! Keep on! This is persistently bringing our needs, our prayers before God. Asking until we receive!
Such persistence demonstrates to God our sincerity in our prayer. He hears, He answers, and often that answer is, ‘Not yet’. He knows what is best for us. And when the time is right to answer us.
Father, please give us the depth of faith to keep on… asking, seeking, and knocking.
