Today’s Encouragement is Luke 11:1 (NLT) “Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.’”
Teach us to pray –
So, He did, and we call it The Lord’s Prayer.
When we pray, are we understanding that we’re talking with God Himself? Do we revere Him? Do we hold Him in Awe?
I confess that sometimes my prayer is just giving God my list of ‘prayer requests’… asking Him to bless this person, save this person, heal this person.
Now my friends, I confess that I do this! Not that asking God is wrong… but this is such a tiny portion of what Prayer truly is!
Prayer is our communication with God, the substance and core of our relationship with Him. He invites us into relationship with Him, we respond, then through faith, we become His people. We then begin to grow in relationship with Him… by nurturing that relationship, primarily through prayer!
As you begin to pray,
Pause…
Take a moment to Listen to Him,
to consider His Glory,
to rest in His Presence,
Before you speak…
recognize Him…
Our Father.
Father God, help us your fumbling people, to pause as we begin to pray to You, and acknowledge You, Your greatness, majesty, power, and immeasurable love for us!
