Today’s Encouragement is Genesis 6:9b (NLT) “Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.”
Fellowship With God –
There are several people in the Bible who were described as having a close relationship with God.
Adam, Enoch, Noah, Moses David, and many others in the Old Testament. But in the New Testament, when Jesus lived in earth, a new type of relationship with God was revealed! And all His disciples had the opportunity to walk in close fellowship with Him… Yet James, Peter and John are most often mentioned as the closest to Him.
And today, after His death and resurrection, we now have perpetual relationship with God, the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NLT) “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” The Fellowship…
Friends, we all have a variety of relationships, our families, spouses, friends, co-workers… some relationships are close and precious to us, some not so much. Some end and some new relationships emerge. For relationships to grow, there are a few essentials: time together, communication, patience, forgiveness, understanding… and these cause relationships to become close, important, and even precious…
But… Why? Because God created humankind to need relationships! With each other of course, but most importantly… with Him!
And we all have access to Him… and it is up to us to determine the degree of closeness of this all-important relationship. We are saved by His Grace, and He now lives within us… the depth of this relationship (and nothing else really matters my friend…) is up to us!
Father God we long for a close and growing relationship with You! First because You are God, Creator and King, Lord of all and the most excellent, beautiful, powerful, and glorious One of all… and You are our perfect, loving Father! And because we have this need within us to be in fellowship with You! As You designed us… to walk with You in the Garden… Now through Jesus’ Grace we are restored to the sinlessness of Adam and we long to walk with You.
Walk with You
