Today’s Encouragement is Hosea 6:6 ESV “For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”
For I desire –
Ever ask yourself? Or if you’re really bold, ever ask God… ?
What does God want? What is God’s desire?
Like me, probably not. And why? Because we aren’t giving any (or very little) thought to Him! To His perspective; To His desires. We are totally focused on our own wants, desires, and needs. To be fair, some of us focus on the wants of others also. We then set about striving to achieve accomplish these things, our desires, with all our might.
My friends, it’s good to have goals and desires. It’s good to strive to meet these. But if we’ve placed our efforts on anything which is counter to, or instead of, the desire of our God and Father… it is ultimately futile.
For God tells us clearly what He desires “steadfast love… and the knowledge of God” and “not sacrifice…”
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to focus on what God desires?
Father help us to consider Your heart, Your desires, Your plans and purposes and not exclusively operate from our own desires!
(This beautiful worship song focuses on our desire, not God’s. Sadly, I couldn’t find one which is focused on what God desires!)
