Know and Understand

Today’s Encouragement is John 10:37-38 ESV If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; [38] but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

Know and understand –

Jesus understood how difficult it would be for people to grasp the truth that He was God’s Son, that He and the Father are one (v30).  So here He makes an allowance, a simpler pathway to acceptance, “Even though you don’t believe me, believe the works”!

Amazing, isn’t it?  That by believing the works Jesus has done, we can “know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

Jesus’ many miracles (and He did far more than those recorded in our Bible), were clear evidence that He was Lord over all! Lord over health and illness, demons and plants, and even Lord over death itself.  And all this before His own miraculous resurrection!

We are blessed today to have the biblical record of both, His deeds and His words… ‘that we may know and understand’ that Jesus and the Father are One!

Our Father, please help us to accept and believe, even to ‘know and understand’ this truth of Your Oneness – Father, Son, and Spirit.
