Today’s Encouragement is John 8:12-13 AMP Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” [13] Then the Pharisees told Him, “You are testifying on Your own behalf; Your testimony is not valid.”
The Light of the world –
Jesus clearly told the world who He is! He spoke repeatedly of His relationship with God, and His kingdom, among other truths about Himself. Notice the response of ‘those without ears to hear’… they ignored His statement! They focused instead on the fact that He was speaking this about Himself… ‘testifying on his own behalf’ which by their Law meant there needed to be a second witness.
Jesus proclaims Himself as the light of the world… and they evaluate His statement by their laws…
My friends, we can take Jesus at His word! We need no measure, no outside evaluation, no logical confirmation of Who He Is! He has told us! We need to ‘deal with it’, responding to His truth… just as He said… without man’s evaluation, or logical examination, or critical dissection!
He IS! The Light! The Way! The Truth! The Life! The King of Kings! The Lord of Lords! The Son of God!
Father, help us, fallible, weak, confused, sheep-like human beings… to accept as Truth… Your Word!
