Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 32:5 ESV I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
I will confess –
Notice the process he describes:
Acknowledgment of sin
A decision to confess – ‘I will confess’
Confession (to the LORD) pouring out all our sin, in honesty, withholding nothing
Forgiveness – God’s Mercy and Grace is given to those who Love Him and confess their sinfulness and their need for Him.
It seems that the concept of confessing sin, is often neglected in our modern faith. Some Churches have established confession as a requirement, a ritual, yet the confession is too often to a person rather than to the Lord. This verse teaches clearly that confession is between the sinner and God alone.
What happens when we confess and acknowledge our sin? We admit to God that we know it is wrong, we have done this wrong, and we are asking God to forgive us. And we become free of our sin! Forgiven by God Himself!
Now notice what happens when we do not confess- (v3) ‘For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.’ Refusing to confess keeps our sin rotting within us, eating away at our lives like a cancer…
Father God, help us to honestly confess our sin to You, and to become free from its destructive power, eating away at our lives. Thank You for offering perfect Forgiveness to us when we recognize, acknowledge, and confess our need for Your Mercy and Grace.
Amazing Love
