Today’s Encouragement is Deuteronomy 8:3b NLT He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
We live by every word –
Too often in the daily busyness of this life, we find ourselves tossed around, discouraged, depressed, doubting, and generally hopeless. It seems inevitable, we have times of strength and then times of weakness. Is it possible that our nourishment might be a contributing factor to this situation?
When I eat healthy, I am stronger, more alert, and more optimistic and even more hopeful. When I eat poorly, not enough, too much junk food… I begin to slide downhill physically. Our spiritual lives are similar… we need healthy spiritual food to stay spiritually healthy.
So, my friends, what is the source of your spiritual food, your daily bread?
Is this devotional, as spiritually nutritious as it might be, the sole source of your ‘soul-food’ intake?
May I suggest you can personally go to His table and feed your soul from the many truths there… and going yourself allows you to take in as much as you need!
Now a little bit of God’s Word, like this daily encouragement, is a very good thing, a good spiritual meal to begin your day… and hopefully it is enough to sustain you all day long. However, there are often times when we need more! Friends, we always can go to His Word directly to receive exactly the spiritual nourishment that our souls may require.
Father God, help us to come to You alone… every day … and whenever we need strength and encouragement… for You alone have the words of eternal life (John 6:68)!
