Today’s Encouragement is Mark 4:17 NLT. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.
Fall way –
Sometimes in this spiritual battle between God and evil, we will see casualties of war.
Some choose to follow Christ, enduring the challenges and battles of the Christian Life, and are victorious! Sadly, there are those who choose one of many ‘other ways’ and are lost to the enemy. The road of Faith in Christ is narrow, but the way is broad that leads to destruction. (Matt 7:13-14)
Sometimes these casualties are folks who attend our churches. Those who run into problems in life and come to church looking for answers… but when troubles come (Mark 4:17) they fall away.
Sometimes it’s members of our family, a child who chooses to turn away from parents and never returns, a spouse who chooses themselves and their own way and leaves. They fall away.
Friends, we all have choices in this life, and we are constantly making choices, some minor and some major. But always we 1) have the ability to choose, and 2) will deal with the consequences of those choices.
Finally, please notice the missing element for these who fall away… they do not have deep roots! We can deepen our roots my friends – by choosing to trust, to pray, to absorb His word, to worship, to praise, to allow God to rule our lives, hearts, and minds… by asking Him!
Father God, may we all be among the faithful, who do not fall away when trouble or persecution for believing You comes our way. Help us Lord, to sink our roots – deep in You – to stand firm in Faith in Jesus!
For Your splendor
