Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 11:7 ESV For the LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.
He loves righteous deeds –
Of course, we know that our good deeds do not earn us a ticket to heaven, we can never ‘do enough’ to be saved, for salvation is by faith. (Eph 2:8)
And of course, we know not to do our good deeds to be seen by people, because there is no real lasting value in that. (Matt 6:1)
But my friends, consider this verse for a moment… The Lord is righteous … and He loves righteous deeds!
Because we belong to Him, and because we love Him (the greatest commandment) we want to bring a smile to His face, we want to please Him… and here is one way to do so… by doing things which are right and good… not to be seen by others, not so that we earn our salvation… but simply to please our Loving, Perfect, Father God!
Righteous deeds can take many forms, here are just a few examples from the Bible…
The woman who anointed Jesus’ feet,
A cup of cold water
An offering of a few coins (all she had)
Forgiving others
Any kindness done for others
The possibilities of good, right, and loving deeds are endless!
And when we do anything in this way… God is pleased! Because He loves righteous deeds!
Loving Father, help us to Love You well. Work in our hearts, renew them, so that kindness, generosity, and Your Perfect Love for others flows through us! We ask that such righteous deeds become second nature to us. Because we Love You – we want to please you, our Wonderful Father.
