Today’s Encouragement is Luke 11:9-10 (NLT) “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Keep on –
His disciples asked him (v1) ‘Lord, teach us to pray.’ And he taught them the Lord’s Prayer… then immediately He relates a parable about being persistent, consistent, determined, dedicated… in asking, praying for what you need. And then in v9-10, “Keep On!”
It seems almost impudent, almost rude, almost demanding, the way the parable reads… and yet He then clearly instructs us – ‘Keep on!’ Keep on Asking God for what you need!
Friends, Jesus is telling us that God responds – when we Keep On… Jesus told us to ‘Keep On’!
We too often give our prayers one shot and then we move on – in the next breath to another prayer need, then another. Now, of course God does NOT get tired of hearing our prayers! He is not a man who has a short fuse or limited patience… He IS Love; our Loving, Kind, Patient, Perfect, Almighty Heavenly Father (there aren’t enough words to describe Him!)
So, we are wise to pray with persistence, with consistency, with diligence, with intention, focus, and confidence… because He told us to!
The ‘when’ is up to Him, it may be Moments, Days, Years, Decades, a lifetime… but all time is the same to our God… so we just trust Him, He knows the absolute best way and best time to answer!
So, my Friends, – Pray! And Keep On Praying!
