Today’s Encouragement is James 1:12 NLT God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Patiently endure-
We all want to be among those that God blesses. We seek Him and long to be close to Him! So, how do we experience His blessings? One way, James provides for us – Patiently endure testing and temptation.
He goes on to explain (v14-15) “Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”
It begins within us, our own desires in our hearts and minds… which entice, tempt, and drag us away… away from God, away from right, away from truth… and then birth is given to sinful acts… which then give birth to death. It’s the process of sin. It can take only milliseconds, or it can take months. Yet the process is the same…
Being close to God, seeking Him, honoring Him is the greatest (only?) defense we have against temptation.
So, how do we patiently endure? Refusal, just say no, flee from it, turn away, remove all triggers, pray, confess, there are numerous spiritual tools we can use… but at times my friend… we simply must patiently endure testing and temptation… the only way to do this is with God’s help… praying for His mercy, deliverance, and strength. Which He has promised us He will always provide!
Thank You Father God, for always teaching us Truth. For always providing a way out, a way through, and a way home for us. Help us when tempted, to cry out to You for help, and to patiently endure as we trust in You to help us. Thank You for Your innumerable blessings. We pray in Jesus’ Name.
