Today’s Encouragement is Mark 12:2 NLT At the time of the grape harvest, he sent one of his servants to collect his share of the crop.
To collect his share –
In this parable, Jesus told of a man who planted a vineyard, fully prepared it, winepress, fence, watchtower… everything, then leased it to tenants. When he sent someone to collect His share… the tenants refused and beat him.
Notice this came about when the crop was ripe, when the vineyard was full of a rich harvest, and the landowner only requested His share… from His vineyard! But the ungrateful, selfish tenants refused – to give Him – His share.
My friends, all that you and I, or anyone else has… comes from and belongs to God! All of heaven and earth are His! He alone gives us the health, the blessings, the ability to earn and accumulate things. All is His!
Will we give Him His share? Remembering that He is the source of everything, every good and perfect gift (Jas 1:17). Historically He has taught us that one-tenth, from the first-fruits of our work, which is our earnings, that is “His share”. Will we refuse it give it?
It didn’t go well for the selfish, rebellious, and ungrateful tenants of this vineyard… But – in contrast, the blessings of honoring Him with a tithe, the first-fruits… are immeasurable! He’s even promised to open the windows of Heaven for us! (Mal 3:10)
Father God, help us relinquish our selfish control of all that You have given us. Help us to recognize that You alone are the source of everything good!
With all I am
