Today’s Encouragement is John 16:33 NLT “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Take heart –
It just happens. Setbacks, disappointments, sorrows, tragedy. We all will suffer some of these in this life. These troubles, whether of our own making or by the hand of others… Will Come! Jesus didn’t say, some of you might have little annoyances in your lifetime! He said You Will! All of us – definitely.
What if this is within the church? It is not immune my friends. Our family, workplace, friendships and even our church family is part of this world… in which we Will have trouble.
So, His counsel for us is this simple phrase. Take Heart. Have peace in me.
The Amplified Bible translates this as “be courageous, be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy”!
Why? How can we? We are facing a deep painful situation, a tragic loss of someone or something vitally important to us! “Because I have overcome the world. “
This world is full of trouble. It’s inevitable. But God! But Jesus! He is over and above and beyond and transcends everything, including this world!
Our faith, our hope, our confidence – is not in a job, a spouse, a family, a friend, a pastor, an institution, a church, a routine, a government, or anything of this world. Our Faith is in Jesus! He is the One who has overcome everything, including this world! He is victorious over everything we face. And we are His!
Father God, please help us remember Your Truths. You have overcome this broken world. Our time here, our troubles here are not for long. You hold us in Your Hands. Help us Lord, to “Take Heart”!
