Today’s Encouragement is John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
The light shines –
Read these amazing words again with me in John 1:1-5 ESV “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
In just these few verses, we are introduced to Jesus who is described here as The Word. And also to His relationship to God, all of creation came about through Him, and that He is the Light and the Life of men.
And in this last sentence…
Can’t you just hear this as a victory shout? THE DARKNESS HAS NOT OVERCOME IT!!! Amen! Thank God!
Friends, when we aren’t certain which way to go, when our pathway, our future, all our options – are dark, Jesus is the Light. And no darkness, no evil, no sorrow, no depression, no despair… nothing of the darkness can – ever- overcome His Light.
We can choose to turn away from the Light, and walk toward the Darkness if we choose, we always have the choice… But the Light Still Shines! And we can return to the Light, anytime we choose as well.
Gods Light, the Hope and Salvation, Miracle Working Power, the Love, The Forgiveness of Jesus Christ… Still Shines. Eternally. Victoriously.
Father, help us to choose to walk in Your Light, to return when we falter, doubt, fear… because Jesus Shines, even in the darkness.
