Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:14-15 (NLT) “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. [15] So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, ‘Abba, Father.’”
His own children –
We often think to ourselves, yeah, God loves me, but He loves everybody… so, it’s no big deal. Our minds are tricky things (deceitful) and the lies we believe will keep us broken, weak, and alone. How often we say “Yes, But…” when we read of God’s promises and His love. “Yes, but that’s for good people, who really love God, who live good lives, who don’t have the past or problems that I have.”
My friends, God’s love is specific… He chose you to adopt as His beloved child. He makes no mistakes, he chooses His children carefully. We are among those who are privileged to call him Daddy (Abba is like Daddy in English). This is not adoption into an institution filled with lost and lonely children… this is the embrace of a Loving, Personal, Close, and Perfect Father. And You are chosen (by the One who knows everything about you, past and future) to be HIS!
This is the Good News… we just believe, and He does this (and even much more) for us… What loving father doesn’t want to bless his kids with everything? And our God is so much greater than any loving father we can imagine.
Lord, open our hearts to accept Your Love and embrace the truth that we are your very-deeply-loved sons and daughters. Because of Jesus!
