Offended

Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 11:6 ESV And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”

Offended-

Many were in His day – offended by Him. Because He flaunted their petty religious traditions. He did good things like healing on the sabbath day… highly offensive to their religion. And most offensive of all, he claimed to be equal to God! (V27)

All the religious leaders were highly offended! Incensed! Enraged! So much that they chose to kill Him.

We too, can be offended! Even by the teachings of Jesus. We don’t call it that… we say, “Well, nobody’s perfect, no one can live up to His teachings!” And we use this as an excuse to continue living as we choose.

Friends, His teaching, the Sermon on the Mount for example, is intended to ‘set the bar’ at the highest level possible, so high that no one could attain it; so high that, without Jesus, without the Perfect, Amazing Grace of God… no salvation is possible!

Offended by Jesus? May we rather be enthralled by Him! And overwhelmingly grateful!

For not only has He told us the Truth (He IS the Truth)… He also has provided the (only) Way for us to be saved! John 14:6 (ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
