Today’s Encouragement is John 16:8 NLT And when he [Holy Spirit] comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
When he comes –
Jesus is speaking to his disciples about his leaving them, but He will send (has already sent) the Holy Spirit in His place, and says, The Spirit will convict the world:
of its sin, of the righteousness of God, and of the coming judgment.
In my life, the Spirit has led me to this ‘conviction of sin’ in several ways, first was the recognition that I was full of sin, there was nothing good, really, about me! And I needed a Savior!
Then, later as a believer in Christ, I began to choose a bit more wisely, to grow, and to strive to obey Him. Then the Holy Spirit gently began to reveal some of my hidden, deeper sins. And as I became able to deal with it, He then worked within me to overcome. It is a process directed by the Spirit, as He sees fit for me. I don’t believe that this process will ever be completed in this life (Phil 3:12), but I wouldn’t trade for the victory which He has achieved in my life! All the while remembering ‘His Grace is all I need’ for all my sin (2 Cor 12:9).
I believe the same is true for each individual believer. The Holy Spirit individually guides each of us, corrects, molds, fills, and strengthens us to live as Christ! He is not finished with any of us.
