Today’s Encouragement is 1 John 4:12 NLT No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
Brought to full expression-
Seems curious, doesn’t it? God’s love is brought to full expression… IF we love each other! Later John said, [19] We love each other because he loved us first.
Seems there is an important message here… God loved us first – and gave Jesus’ life to demonstrate the depth of His perfect love for us. And now, if and when, we love each other, God’s love is brought to full expression, or as other translations read, His Love is perfected or made complete!
So, is it possible that… as amazing, even incomprehensible as God’s immeasurable Love is for us… that this Love of God, which far exceeds all we can understand… is somehow incomplete, lacking just a bit, and needing – our response? … In loving each other!?!? Is it possible?
In human terms it becomes a bit more clear. As we greatly love our own children and grandchildren, we experience even more love for them and also a taste of this completeness, this perfection… when we see those we love… also loving others.
So in a similar way… Love comes from God to us, and then through us, to each other (and of course is reflected back to God) and then others also loving God, and loving others as well… This ‘circle of Love’ becomes complete, perfected, and brought to full expression.
Remember God IS Love. This is His plan! His idea! His creation!
Father, we stand in amazement and awe as we gain only just a glimpse of Your wonderful Love for us, Your plan for Love to be the rule and measure of our lives… May we be so filled by Your Love that we overflow with Your Love for each other, so that we are fulfilling our role in bringing Your Love to full expression!
