Today’s Encouragement is Isaiah 40:7-8 NLT “The grass withers and the flowers fade beneath the breath of the LORD. And so it is with people. [8] The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
Stands forever-
You don’t need to live too very long on this earth to understand the brevity of this life. Just like the grass, which withers away in a drought, or flowers which bloom for only a few days… so it is with people.
Sometimes people die young; sometimes they live to old age. When you attend the funeral of the young… the brevity of life can become a very sharp and painful reality.
My friends, the words, ideas, theories and popular movements of people, human, fallible, faltering, and often false… are also like the grass. Quickly appearing and quickly fading away.
While there truly is nothing new under the sun (Ecc1:9) things can seem new to a new generation… because sin repackages itself to make fools of the unsuspecting in its never ceasing effort to deceive humanity.
The antidote to such deception? “The word of our God stands forever!”
John 1:1 NLT “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Jesus is the Eternal Word of God.
Father God, help us as Your children look only to the truth of Your Word for guidance. ‘You [Jesus] have the words of eternal life, where else would we go?’ (John 5:68)
