Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 121:1-2 NLT I look up to the mountains- does my help come from there? [2] My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth!
I look –
Recently we’ve been seeing several verses focusing on – our focus, what we’re looking at, and what we’re looking to.
The idea is frequently repeated in the Bible. Fix your eyes on Jesus, I look to You for help, and numerous other times this concept is used to help us to understand, to ‘see’, that what we choose to focus on, look to and for, is essential to our direction!
Years ago, I heard my driver’s education teacher say, “If you focus on the lines in the highway you will start to drift over to them, you move toward what you are focused on.” We’ve all heard similar observations that our goals are too high or too low, we need to “set our sights” on a goal.
The world recognizes this truth. We are drawn to what we focus upon.
So, what is our focus? What are we looking at, looking for? May I suggest that the only focus with any positive lasting value… is Our God! Not career, health, wealth, power, prestige, nor even family, nor friendship, nor any other pursuit, any other focus… all these will disappoint, fail, fade like the grass.
Father God, help us to turn our eyes, our focus, our pursuit to You alone! May we choose to make You the focal point of our lives… lift our eyes, our gaze, our focus to You, Your Grace, Love, Perfection… and Your ways, Your Truth, Your Hope. We ask in Jesus’ Name.
