Today’s Encouragement is Hebrews 13:5 NLT Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
Be satisfied-
In other versions this satisfaction is called contentment. Here it is used in reference to money, but in context, it applies to all situations, including relationships, as the writer begins this passage with, Hebrews 13:1 NLT “Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.” Then he mentions also loving strangers, those in prison, and our spouses.
Be satisfied with what you have.
What does this have to do with loving others? Is it possible that… we are to be satisfied, content, with the people in our lives whom God has allowed there? Of course, those who are destructive, abusive, full of anger and resentment, these we are to flee from, because they are not honoring God with their lives… but our brothers, sisters, spouses in Faith… these are the people who God has placed, or allowed, next to us…
Be content with them, live with them in satisfaction, because you and I are just as flawed as they. Our satisfaction comes from God, not from money, relationships, or prestige… He is the source of all we need!
Father God, help us to practice satisfaction, sincere contentment in all areas of our lives, including relationships, as we consider that we are as imperfect as they are.
