Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 1:3-4 NLT We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. [4] For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people,
And we give thanks –
Paul was praying his thanks to God for the Colossians’ faith and their love. This is a prayer of gratitude, not of petition. He prayed with joy, thanking God for the faith and love of the believers in this area.
We too often approach our Father, the God of all creation, with our pleas for this or that, our anguish, our needs, our wants, or even our demands. And we are welcomed by Him, at all times! We are invited to pray about everything, without ceasing! (Eph 6:18) Yet my friends, would it not be a good idea, occasionally, if not regularly, to Thank Him, for Who He Is, for His unfailing Love, for what He has done for us, and for others? Just expressing sincere thanks, just gratitude, just acknowledging Him for His great mercy and kindness.
Friends, God doesn’t ‘need’ this… but we do! We need to express our gratitude, in order to bring it to the forefront of our thoughts! We can live in an attitude of gratitude, when we remember to pray and sincerely thank God for what He has done for us, and for all His children.
