Think about

Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 4:8 NLT And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Think about-

How many times every day do we hear or say something like this? “What do you think?”  “What was I thinking!”  “I just wasn’t thinking!” “I think that…” “He doesn’t think before he acts…” “There’s something very wrong with his thinking…” “That was thoughtless!” and dozens of other common phrases relating to our thinking and thoughts.  Why?

Is it possible that out thoughts, our thinking, directs our actions and so our very lives?

We readily acknowledge that someone who loses the ability to control their thinking, their minds, can become completely unstable, unable to function at all.   The mind is the director of our lives!  Our thinking directs, determines, and essentially rules over our actions and so, our lives.

Hopefully, you find all this fairly obvious… why focus so deeply on it?

Because our thinking, my friends, determines our reality.

In this passage for example, we’re advised to think first… on what is True!  For us as believers, we readily respond…Jesus is the Truth (the way and the life)

Whatever we are thinking about – the problems, the suffering we or others face, the decline of civilization, the horrors of this life, or worse, when we focus our minds on our own depraved thinking, our fears, worries and the darkness…. This ‘thinking’ leads us in the direction of that thinking.

So, what are you thinking my friend? May I suggest we focus our thinking on … Who God is, what He has done, what He can do, and His wonderful promises to us? He can change our thinking!  Romans 12:2b NLT “…but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

Let’s think about our God
