Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 3:13b NLT “…but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Forgetting the past –
We can get very tied down to the past, can’t we? A painful experience, a loss, a trauma, or even a better life in previous years… the past has the power, if we allow it, to dominate our present and even our future. Or even our current situation, we can be so focused on what’s going on right now, that we don’t see the blessings which await us!
Looking back, or even looking at our circumstances today, causes us to stumble today. It’s good to remember lessons learned from our past experiences, of course, but dwelling on, living in, the past whether it’s good memories or painful ones, leads to stumbling and failure today.
God even does this for us my friends, Hebrews 10:17 NLT Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” God forgets our sins! So, we are free! Free from the past, from all sins, from the experiences that want to overtake and control us today!
Will we embrace this freedom today and live in the present which He has granted us? Or will we wallow in our past? We make this choice my friends! He has provided a clean fresh new day… what do you choose?
Lamentations 3:23 NLT Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
