I would have despaired unless

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 27:13-14 NASB “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. [14] Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.”

I would have despaired unless –

We are all discouraged occasionally, it just happens.  But it is not an attitude which God intends for His loved, adopted, and chosen people to have.  Discouragement is an attitude of doubt, failure, and hopelessness.

My friends, we can Choose not to despair, “I would have… unless I had believed”, by deciding what we Believe.

What do we believe?  Is God your loving Father, or is He an angry judge waiting for you to slip up? Is He aware of the birds in the field and hairs on your head, but unconcerned about your bills or illnesses?

None of us like to wait.  Yet waiting for God to act is not like other waiting… it is a confident and trusting patience.  It too is a choice… based on what we believe.

Lord, help us to accept the wise counsel of David, writer of the Psalms and a man after Your own heart… Help us to Be strong… to Take Courage … and to Wait for (trust in, rely on) You!  Father, help us to refuse despair – by choosing Trust.  Help us to continue to believe, to know, that we will see Your goodness in this life!
