Today’s Encouragement is, 1 John 3:8b ESV “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”
The reason –
Christ came for many reasons, He fulfilled the law (Matt 5:17), He saved the lost (Luke 19:10), and revealed to us the Father (Matt 11:27) and other reasons too many to list here. But one of His purposes for coming to us, was – to the destroy the works of the devil. Now I ask you, did Jesus fail? At any time? At anything He set about to accomplish? Pretty sure He didn’t… so, since we know that He succeeded, then the works of the devil must be already destroyed… and through Him, we are part of the victorious team!
Please know I don’t claim to understand or have all the answers, just trying to deal with what the Word is saying…
Jesus has already(!) destroyed the work of the devil, the enemy of our hearts.
Maybe this isn’t ‘news’ to you, but to me… that’s some pretty ‘good news’ my friends!
Lord God, Help us to live victoriously today; to refuse to listen to the lies of our enemy, who is already defeated. Instead, help us listen to the promises and blessings of our Lord and Savior, who is Victorious!
