Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 13:22 NLT The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
The worries of this life –
Worry crowds out, the ESV says it “chokes the word”, the truth of God. Imagine putting your hands around the neck (forgive me for this graphic example but it’s His words not mine) of the one bringing you the Word of God, and choking Him. Horrifying! But that is what He said that we do… when we allow worry into our hearts…
You see His Word is crowded out, choked out when we allow worry and the cares of this world, the lure of wealth to dominate our thoughts and hearts, rather than trusting His Word… trusting Him. We cannot to both my friends. We either Trust in Him, or we can worry.
Lord, help us depend upon Your Word so that it is fruitful in our lives and help us reject the temptation to fall into the self-destructive sin of worry.
