Open your hearts

Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 6:11-13 NLT Oh, dear Corinthian friends! We have spoken honestly with you, and our hearts are open to you. [12] There is no lack of love on our part, but you have withheld your love from us. [13] I am asking you to respond as if you were my own children. Open your hearts to us!

Open your hearts –

Paul writes his friends describing in previous verses the sufferings he has endured for the gospel, so that he can bring the message of Jesus to them and summarizes this sacrifice as “our hearts are open to you” (v11).

What more could he do for them, what more could anyone ask of the one delivering the message, at the repeated risk of his own life… certainly he had opened his heart to these people!

And in turn he asks them to open their hearts to him.  The manner of this openness is undefined, possibly so that God can guide their response to him.

And for us, the call is still… open your hearts! To God’s Love, to the Good News of Jesus, to the needs of others around us – for His love, an act of kindness, a gift of mercy, a word of encouragement, a prayer, whatever this might mean to you today…

Open your heart!

Father guide us to open our heart to You today, to allow You to do and say whatever You desire, whatever is helpful to others, whatever brings You glory!  Open our hearts, Lord!

We open our hearts
