Rescue

Today’s Encouragement is Daniel 6:16 NLT So at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, “May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.”

Rescue –

We know the story, the king is manipulated into passing a law that no one can pray to anyone except him, Daniel remains faithful to God, the accusers ‘catch him’ and report him to the king who is now trapped into executing his trusted and closest advisor.

Consider this king, rather than focusing on Daniel for a moment.  He was trapped by the cunning of some of his jealous, conniving ’friends’, and struggled to find a way out of this mess (v14).  He even prayed, (v16) May your God rescue you! And he even fasted all night long.

God did!  Daniel was miraculously rescued, but so was the king!  He was rescued from the snare his associates had set for him! Even though he wasn’t a believer himself… God rescued him also, perhaps because he respected Daniel so much.

God is like that… He blesses even those who care for His children… His love is broad and wide and deep!

Friends, if God can rescue this pagan king from the trap set by his own associates… will He not rescue His own children?  Maybe not in our preferred time or in our preferred manner (Daniel spent all night with these hungry lions!) but His rescue is certain!

Lord, help us to have this ‘Daniel-depth’ of faith, that we would honor You above our very lives. First, because You deserve our honor and our lives, but also so that others may see Your power!
