Wake the dawn

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 57:8-10 NLT Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. [9] I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. [10] For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Wake the dawn –

What a beautiful idea, waking up the dawn with a song of praise to our God!

We could choose that our first waking thought is “Thank You God!”  For another day, for sleep (a little or a lot), for what health we have, for the gift of His salvation… simply because He is Good, He is worthy of our praises!  We always have this choice, regardless of our circumstances.

Such praise doesn’t only come when life is easy… just look back to verse 4, Psalm “I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey- whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords.”  The writer wasn’t exactly leading a charmed life!  Surrounded by lions, yet He choose to get up before dawn to sing God’s praises!  Selah (pause and consider this). Give it some thought.

Is it possible that beginning the day with a song of praise to the One who saves you… might create within us a thankful heart, hope, and encouragement?

Help us Lord, to look to You for our every need, and to do so First, daily, and during the day when challenges arise.  Help us to praise You even when surrounded by lions.

Praise You in this storm
