Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 1:3 NLT All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.
The source of all comfort-
God our Father is The Source of everything good. And Comfort is certainly a good thing! We seek it naturally. It’s inherent to us and even to animals to seek our own comfort.
Yet, we can and often do, reach for something else, anything else, and always the wrong things for our comfort. The list of these things is endless, whatever comes to your mind first is probably your own most-often-chosen source of comfort. And my friend, if our most-often-chosen comfort is not God Himself, we are fooling ourselves, we’re accepting a cheap, temporary substitute for the Comfort of God. He designed us to only be truly satisfied, only be truly comfortable in Him!
This is a decision my friends, a choice we make at a point in time when we choose to follow Christ, but also a daily choice, to seek Him, to be close to Him, to find in Him – our every need! James 1:17a “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father…” He is the Source of Comfort, and every good thing! The wise look to Him, and we are foolish to look elsewhere!
Father God, thank You for providing for our every need, and for providing every good gift for us! You are so good to us! Help us to always choose wisely, to seek You for our Comfort, and every other need also.
