Work for peace

Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 5:9 NLT “God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.”

Work for Peace –

Ever notice how much fighting and arguing goes on each day? Talking heads on TV, Radio talk, social media, to our homes…. We fight! We proudly proclaim “‘A’ is best, it’s right, it’s the way, it’s the answer! I support ’A’!” (‘A’ can be whatever you wish, sports team, political position, candidate, climate issue, vaccination, the list is nauseatingly endless!)

And others proclaim “No, you are wrong! ‘A’ is wrong! ‘B’ is right, it’s the answer! I believe in ‘B’!” Or C or D… take your pick, because in the end… none of it matters! And this battle is endless. And As Ecclesiastes wisely explains “all is meaningless!”

The voice of reason, the one who works for peace, recognizes that people have differing opinions, but these opinions should not, do not have to, drive a wedge of animosity and when fully mature, hatred between us.

Consider the underlying source of all this arguing – James 4:1 NLT “What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?”

And the solution to this endless ‘war’? True peace only comes from God! Jesus is the Prince of Peace. One of His many but significant titles.

Peace within, from Jesus, the Prince of Peace, leads to peace without, peace between us.

Father, help us to work for peace, to find a way to live together in Your Peace, with no more screaming, yelling, arguing, and fighting with each other. We ask in Jesus’ Name.

Peace
