My place of safety

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 18:1-3 NLT I love you, LORD; you are my strength. [2] The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. [3] I called on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.

My place of safety –

David was King when he wrote this song, he finally had victory over all his enemies, he was completely victorious! Most people would celebrate by congratulating themselves, recounting their glorious battles, and focusing on what their own great strength had accomplished.

Not David, not this ‘man after God’s own heart’. In true wisdom, David gave all the praise to God, because David knew that only God could have given him these great victories! So, David thanked God, praised Him with this song.

He mentions that God is his strength, his rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power, safety. And next, David says in V3, I called upon the Lord… and He saved me!

No matter what battles we face, how incredible our enemies may seem, whether they are physical, emotional, or spiritual enemies, and there are many types of enemies set on destroying every one of God’s children. The enemy you’re facing today may seem invincible – depression, hopelessness, fear, doubt, rage, sin of any type, cancer, illness, people after you, debts, your past, your present or future, relationship failure… whatever enemy it is for you at this moment… God can bring you through to victory… Not because you deserve it, but because you are His own. He is the source of our strength (V1), our hope, and confidence. We can trust Him to save us from all enemies!

Father God, thank You for protecting and strengthening us. You are always victorious!  Please help us to always call out to You for help, to stay near to You, and so to remain safely in Your Presence, in Your Victory.
