Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:18 ESV For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Not worth comparing-
The horrible suffering of some people in this life, the abuse, persecution, discrimination, genocide, physical or mental illness and disease, heartbreaking loss of loved ones, the list seems endless… this most terrible and relentless suffering, unimaginable to those of us who haven’t experienced it…
Even this…
Is not worth comparing – to the glory that is to be revealed to us.
As painful as it is to even imagine this most horrific human suffering… such as Jesus’ agonizing death on the cross, from which comes the word ‘excruciating’, even this… isn’t worth comparing.
There is no downplaying of our human sufferings intended here, these life-threatening and life-taking sufferings are real!
Yet the Truth says… as horrible as these sufferings truly are… they aren’t even worth comparing to the Glory which will be revealed to us.
Certainly, this Glory is reserved for us when we see Christ face-to-face, as is recounted in Rev 1:12-16 or standing before the Throne in Rev 4. And even these amazing descriptions are but a glimpse of the “Glory that is to be revealed”!
My friends, the wonderful joys and the immeasurable sorrows of this life… are but a mist, all this will pass away… as will our earthly lives.
Yet you and I will one day witness this! It will be revealed to us one day… The Glory of God! And on that day, the suffering of this life will vanish from our memory as insignificant.
Father God help us to realize that our lives here, our sufferings, our pain, are not worth comparing to Your Glory which we will one day experience. Help us keep our eyes on You, and not on ourselves.
We shall Behold Him
