He adopted you

Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:15 NLT So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

He adopted you –

As adopted children, we are (already) specifically chosen by God. Imagine that for a moment… He looks around this world, and as He does, He selects people for adoption as His very own children! We were chosen before our birth, before we knew Him, before we were even conceived! How is this possible? Remember, He is God… unlimited by time, space, or especially our extremely limited human understanding, knowledge, and logical thinking.

You and I, my brothers and sisters, my friends, were hand-selected, we might say, by God to be members, forever, of His own family.

And we are permitted the incredible privilege, we are so close to Him, His beloved children sitting in His Presence… to call Him “Abba”, which means Daddy.

We’ve often seen TV shows where the adoptive parents anticipate the beautiful moment of acceptance, when the child first calls them Mom or Dad… how gratifying, how powerful, how wonderful, this recognition of their love and care for the child! Now, isn’t God’s heart for us, His love, immeasurably stronger than our love could ever be, even for our adopted or biological children? How then would God the Father respond to us when we look to Him, run to Him, lift our arms to Him and speak the word, Daddy!

His love for us is immeasurable. He is our Daddy.

Father God, help us to run to You, arms upraised, and cry out to You, “Daddy”!

  1. I can see you writing this with the loving arms of your dad outstretched to you!  We’re fortunate to have that kind of Father image in our heads!
