Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:2 ESV “For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
Has set you free-
Not maybe, not later on, not depending on how you behave, not contingent upon anything… except God! We are, already, set Free!
When the law of sin and death was in power over us, before we belonged to Christ… we had no hope, we were victims; our lives were the enslaved subjects of the evil, relentless rule of sin and death!
But now! By faith in Christ Jesus alone! Now my friends, we are Free!
Free from the power, control, domination, of Sin and Death.
Sin certainly still exists, we see its effects everywhere around us, it still tries to creep into our lives at every opportunity, but sin is never free, never without cost, never separated from its master, Death. Oh, but my friends, His Grace is sufficient (2 Cor 12:9) and has already, and is continually, setting us Free!
We now live under the law, rule, and control of the Spirit of Life! The world, sadly, still lives under the law of sin and death. We do not have a ‘free pass’ to sin, but rather, we have the freedom to pass up the sin that wants to destroy us!
Remember sin shall no longer be your master (Rom 6:24 NIV)! Because, my friends, we are (already) free! Set free by Jesus Christ!
Father, help us to embrace, dwell in, rejoice in, and rest in the freedom You have given us through Christ!
