No longer I

Today’s Encouragement is Galatians 2:20 NLT My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

No longer I –

The rebirth, becoming a new person, is a mystery, a unique attribute of our Christian faith. As believers in Jesus, we don’t just follow an ancient teacher who taught the path to enlightenment, we don’t only adhere to an ideal set of principles, rather… we become totally new creatures! We are spiritually reborn from our old life of sin into a new life in Him!  It is no longer we who live – now Christ lives in and through us!!!

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

No longer I… The old life is Gone!  A New life has begun!  In this new life we may still carry the memories of the old life… we may carry some of its scars, wounds of the past, some healed, some still needing healing, some still ‘open’ wounds. My friends, did Jesus partially recreate you? Did He say, “I’m giving you a new life, but you still need to hold on to the pains and hurts and wounds of you past life.  Oh yeah, be sure to remember how bad you were, and keep carrying that shame with you… yes, that’ll be good for you to keep carrying that pain and shame.”?  Is that why Jesus died?  To give us that kind of new life?

Honestly my friends, that wouldn’t be much of a new life, would it?

We choose my friends, to hold on to our old self, old life, old memories, old hurts, old shame… or Rebirth!  Living in the freedom of a – New Life with Christ!

Father God help us to release our old life completely, and by Embracing the Cross of Christ, be completely reborn, new creations in Christ.
