Today’s Encouragement is Luke 17:20-21 NLT One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. [21] You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you.”
Already among you –
Jesus explained that the Kingdom of God had come, it was ‘already’ among the people, not some far off event, not only a Heavenly existence, not a physical place or time… but already present!
When Pilate interrogated Jesus, he was told by the Lord ‘My Kingdom is not of this world’ (John 18:36).
These two seem to conflict on the surface, first He says the Kingdom is already among you, then He says. it is not if this world. Let’s look deeper.
We know that Jesus is the King of Kings. Is it possible that- Wherever the King is, this is The Kingdom of God? The realm of an early king extended to the borders, the limits, of that kingdom. He had no power nor authority in another realm or kingdom.
My friends, Are there any borders or limits to the Kingdom of God?
Now, we are free to ignore His Kingship and authority, and so many do sadly, or we are free to recognize, respond, embrace, and surrender to His authority as our King. We are then, already! within His Kingdom – because we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord!
Father God, help us to choose, by faith, to live within Your Kingdom, according to Your ways, Your teaching, Your Truth, rather than the ways, teaching and truth of the kingdom of this world. You are our God and Jesus is our King!
