Then feed my sheep

Today’s Encouragement is John 21:17 NLT A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

Then feed my sheep –

Pretty simple, well, it’s at least clear. You say you love me, then feed my sheep. The two are connected, not my thought, but Jesus’ Word.

So, it must be that Loving Christ is demonstrated, fulfilled, actualized, by feeding His sheep. Notice He didn’t indicate which sheep, other than Mine, so, is it possible that He was including all? The lost sheep, found sheep, dirty sheep, fat and happy sheep, lazy and dull sheep, wandering and obedient sheep, beautiful sheep, ugly sheep…. All are certainly His. Some are certainly lost (not yet found), some are certainly determined to go their own way, some make stupid decisions, (so glad I never did that!) and some stay right where they’re supposed to be.

He didn’t distinguish! Are we then to distinguish which sheep we are to feed?

Remember, Peter is the rock upon which Jesus built His church. What Jesus spoke to Peter 2000 years ago He still says to His church today. “Feed my sheep.”

Jesus is Bread of Life, and He is the Living Water! The Word of God is our food, and He – His Word, His Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness and Redemption, all of Him… this is what we need to ‘feed’ to His sheep.

And in so doing my friends… we are feeding His sheep… we then are – loving Jesus.
