Today’s Encouragement is Luke 21:38 NLT “The crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.”
To hear Him –
Can you envision the scene? Hundreds of people gathered at the temple early each morning, before dawn probably, leaving home in the dark, walking 5, 10, 15 minutes or more up the hill to the Temple. Some came alone, some with family, some young, some old, some wealthy, some poor, some with empty stomachs and some full. Yet all driven, drawn, led by an unknown, unspoken desire, more than a desire, a need, a hunger, an undefined, indescribable call, just… to hear Him.
Were they mocked by family and friends, ridiculed for listening to the teacher, forsaking their other responsibilities? Were they laying aside their own businesses and even the needs of their family each morning, early, as they journeyed… to Hear Him?
Of course, some were drawn to Him, because they were the ones beginning to see, as Peter did… John 6:68 NLT “Simon Peter replied, ‘Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.‘“
My friends, you and I are like these early believers, followers of Christ, setting everything aside, pursuing Him and His words! He alone has the words which give Eternal Life! He IS Eternal Life! And He speaks to us as we seek Him!
Father God continue to draw us to Yourself, guide us to Your truth, early each morning Lord, may we hear Your words… the Words of Eternal Life.
Give me Jesus
