Today’s Encouragement is Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
There is a season-
We live in seasons, not only the cold winter or hot summer type, but distinct periods of time, nonetheless. A season of peace, a season of strife, of bliss, of pain, of joy at a newborn and grief at the loss of a loved one…. life is full of such seasons, no one is immune. The hard seasons pass too slowly, the pleasant ones too fast.
The Bible contains inspired historical records of many people who lived these differing seasons over many, many years. Their experience with God during these seasons is given to teach us how to hold on to our faith through these experiences. Job through great loss, Joseph through family abuse and false imprisonment, Peter through his betrayal of Jesus, and restoration… the list is almost endless.
The wisdom we need for our faith in God is only found in this book, compiled over many centuries, rich in truth and faith, hope, courage, and compassion. It doesn’t save us, only faith in Jesus as the Son of God can save. But the Bible does guide us along this journey, the many varied and unpredictable seasons of life.
And remember, just like all seasons – this too shall pass…
Father grant us the wisdom to learn from the book You gave us; wisdom to keep the faith during the seasons of this life.
Turn, Turn, Turn
The Byrds
Rick –
The Byrds Turn, Turn, Turn was my favorite song as a young teenager. Helped me understand the ups and downs of being 14.
