Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 141:1-2 NLT “O LORD, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help! [2] Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering.”
Listen when I cry –
David experienced times when He didn’t feel very close to God. In this Psalm he cried out to God, “Please Lord Listen to me!”
Like the old joke goes: An elderly couple were driving down the road in their old truck, the kind with bench seats. She pined, “I remember when we used to sit side by side every time we got in your truck.” He calmly replied, “I haven’t gone anywhere.”
Friends, God hasn’t gone anywhere! He hasn’t stopped listening; He isn’t slow in keeping His promises (2 Peter 3:9). We might ‘FEEL’ that way sometimes; it ‘feels’ like He isn’t listening or responding quickly enough. But my friend this is our human perception, our own ‘feelings’ speaking to us. God isn’t subject to our emotions. He desires us to choose Faith in Him instead of having faith in what we ‘feel’!
David acknowledged his own ‘feelings’ that God might not be listening… yet he continued to express his faith in prayer and worship. He chose Faith over his Feelings. AA has a motto, “Feelings aren’t Facts”.
Lord, we feel lonely, ignored, and unheard at times, help us to remember Your truth and Your promises that You are always with us (Matt 28:20).
