Those who are lost

Today’s Encouragement is Luke 19:10 NLT “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Those who are lost –

Jesus did not, He cannot ever, fail.  And He said that He came to seek and save the lost.  He later said in His final message and prayer in John 17:12b NLT “I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.” Not one was lost.

Yet, weren’t there thousands, millions of people at that time who didn’t know Him?

We know that Matthew 22:14 NLT “For many are called, but few are chosen.”  A ragtag team of eleven disciples, a small group of women, Joseph of Arimathea… these were the ones whom Jesus guarded (John 17:12) and who believed in Him even in His death… that we know of!

There were hundreds healed, and thousands fed by His hand.  Where were they?  Did they come to belief and become His followers, before or perhaps after the resurrection?  We will never know in this life.

But the question for us now is.  Since Jesus did not, cannot fail; and all who were called, He saved and kept to the end, all those who were chosen, is it possible that we can rest in His work?

Father thank You for keeping us: Your chosen, sought-after, called, guarded, adopted, and deeply loved children… safe to the end.  Help us to recognize that You never fail.  Help us to rest in Your finished work.

Rest
