Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 23:37b NLT How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.
I have wanted to –
Jesus is speaking to his nation, expressing His desire to protect and care for them, a longstanding desire…. and His desire becomes our invitation, to come to Him, to gather together in His presence, in His shelter, in His protection.
Is it possible that each time we gather, two or more of us, to worship in His presence, His shelter, His protection… that we are fulfilling His desire? That we are coming to Him and in this way fulfilling His longing? Is it possible?
“But you wouldn’t let me” – friends Jesus invites but doesn’t force or coerce or trick us into doing His will (which is always for our good). Remember He stands at the door and knocks… He doesn’t come in uninvited!
Father help us to have open willing hearts, to willingly gather together under the wings of Your love, protection, and Your presence.
