Today’s Encouragement is Titus 3:9 ESV “But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.”
Avoid foolish controversies –
I did it. I knew I shouldn’t; it was just too tempting. I jumped in, took the bait, and dove headfirst into …. a foolish controversy.
I argued my point, countered their comebacks, parried their direct attacks, and deftly defended my position… All for nothing. They didn’t concede to my ‘brilliant’ argument, didn’t accept my position, and clung to their own opinion for dear life.
It was a cold, hard, frustrating, and embarrassing reminder… have nothing to do with foolish arguments!
Father grant me the self-restraint to keep silent when others around me are engaged in arguments which are foolish, which don’t have clear biblical truth as the answer. Help me to hold entirely to Your truth and let the rest fade into mist.
